On the eastern coastline of Italia, lying some ten kilometres from the Adriatic sea, close to the village of Collecorvino among the Colli Pescaresi is found the 53ha estate of the Mazzocchetti family, who began bottling their wines in 1973. Here the soils are a mix of sedimentary calcareous clay & glacial moraine, since the srea was shaped by the sea in front & the Appennines behind; indeed during summer breezes shuttle between the two. Fabrizio & his wife Giovanna now run the estate, which majors on Montepulciano d'Abruzzo for reds & Trebbiano d'Abruzzo for whites, along with Passerina & Pecorino. They produce two ranges: 'Campotino' in lightweight bottle for everyday drinking; 'Col del Mondo Fattore' for something more 'serious'...
2021 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Terre dei Vestini 'Fattore' is so-called after the ancient tribe who inhabited the land among the Colli Pescaresi, vinified in cement & stainless steel, aged in cluyver ceramic eggs as well as barriques & botte grande; the cantina's signature Montepulciano d'Abruzzo!
