Greece
Driven by a vision and a passion, in the early 70s Costas Lazaridis set out on a journey that would reshape the destiny of his native land. He had a vision that Drama would become a symbol among the world’s renowned wine regions. What started as a modest 10-hectare plot has grown into the Greece’s largest privately owned vineyards, cultivating both native and international grape varieties, from Sauvignon Blanc and Assytiko to Cabernet Sauvignon and Agiorgitiko.
Costas Lazaridi’s passion for the vine went beyond the vineyard. He built Drama’s first state-of-the-art winery, crafted premium distillates and aged balsamics. Later he established the one-of-a-kind Wine Museum-Costa Lazaridi in Attica, preserving and promoting the heritage and stories of winemaking.
Today, with wineries in Drama and Attica, each bottle reflects his philosophy: “Great wines are born in the vineyards.” Every vine, every parcel, and every harvest continues the legacy of innovation, care, and deep respect for the land, bridging tradition and modernity in every glass.
At Estates Costa Lazaridi, sustainability and sustainable viticulture begin where the vine meets the nature. Our vineyards on the slopes of Drama and our organic vineyards at Lake Marathon in Attica are not just places of cultivation-they are living and dynamic ecosystems.
Today, all our vineyards are officially certified by the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation, and we are proud members of a global community committed to restoring the vitality of agricultural landscapes. At the heart of this approach lies a simple but powerful idea: when we care for the soil, we restore the balance of the entire ecosystem. Healthy soil gives life above and below the ground - it nurtures vines, supports biodiversity, and strengthens resilience against climate challenges.
Costa Lazaridi’s vision to establish Drama as a City of Wine has been fulfilled. Now, a new chapter begins. His sons, Gerasimos and George Lazaridis, are leading the Estates into a new era.
