This seminar presents Garnacha/Grenache as a historic European grape variety with a strong link to its terroirs of origin.
From its roots in northeastern Spain to its expansion across southern France, it highlights how climate, soils and old vines shape its identity, while also recognizing Garnacha/Grenache as one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world.

Today, Garnacha/Grenache is also a key market trend thanks to its freshness, versatility and strong connection to origin, attracting renewed attention from winemakers, sommeliers and consumers.

The seminar offers a unique opportunity to taste a wide diversity of Garnacha/Grenache wines in different styles, bringing together the great genuine Garnacha specialties of Spain and the renowned Grenache wines of France. It explores the range of expressions produced from this variety — red, white, rosé, sparkling and sweet wines — and highlights how tradition and modern winemaking combine to convey freshness, concentration and authenticity.

Particular focus is placed on the role of European Geographical Indications, including Protected Designations of Origin (PDOs) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGIs), as guarantees of origin, quality and authenticity, reflecting Europe’s commitment to sustainable viticulture, traceability and the preservation of traditional wine cultures.
