Panizzi Vernaccia di San Gimignano – A Tuscan White That Speaks Across Asian Tables
Across Asia's most dynamic wine markets—from Hong Kong and Shanghai to Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo—we see the same shift: serious buyers and sommeliers are hunting for white wines with structure, ageing potential, and genuine food versatility. Panizzi Vernaccia di San Gimignano answers that demand.
We have farmed this historic Tuscan variety since 1979 and launched our first Vernaccia in1989. Grown on tuff and sandstone soils around medieval San Gimignano, Vernaccia delivers a distinctive saline, flinty core that deepens with age into unexpected complexity —a mineral-driven white that builds depth over time. Our Riserva, aged in French oak and on lees before extended bottle rest, demonstrates just how gracefully these wines continue to grow in time.
Asian cuisine, with its layers of umami, spice, and texture, demands wines with cut, freshness, and savoury presence. Vernaccia's racy acidity and mineral backbone make it a natural partner. Our stainless-steel Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG slides effortlessly alongside dim sum, sashimi, tempura, and delicate seafood soups. The single-vineyard Vigna Santa Margherita, partially fermented in oak, gains creamy texture and spice that lock in with Peking duck, grilled fish, and soy-based dishes. The Riserva has the flinty weight to stand up to rich crab preparations, butter-poached lobster, and braised pork belly, without overwhelming finer flavours.
We strongly believe Vernaccia di San Gimignano fills a real gap: a structured, food-loving wine with heritage and a contemporary edge.
