ARTISANS PARTISANS PRESENTS NEW NAMES, LABELS AND VINTAGES AT SPRING 2025 TRADE SHOWS
Created by Languedoc winemaker, négociant and CIVL president Pierre Bories, the Artisans Partisans name spans the four organic Languedoc wine estates that he owns (Chateau Ollieux Romanis, Chateau Rives-Blanques, Domaine le Champ des Murailles and Domaine Pierre Bories).
Artisans Partisans will be revealing new names and labels for wines from Château Rives-Blanques and Château Ollieux Romanis. Inspired by the concept of quiet luxury, this is design at its most thoughtful; each detail quietly illustrates the understated elegance of the wine behind the label.
The latest looks have been created to meet the expectations of younger drinkers who demand clarity about the products they consume. The new labels provide key points about each wine including varieties and fruit origin, vinification methods, and the estate's environmental commitments. Informative yet attractive, these updated labels encourage dialogue with a new generation of wine lovers.
Sustainability is also key. Lighter bottles are being introduced across all the Artisans Partisans ranges in a move away from previous models that weighed as much as 650g to a more eco-friendly version (the O-I Bourguignonne Caractère) that tips the scales at 410g. The timeless elegance of the new bottle's shape artfully combines heritage with contemporary flair, and a stylish wax capsule adds the finishing touch.
Artisans Partisans will also be pouring wines from the Les Indigènes range. These organic, single varietal wines are made with indigenous yeast and no added sulfites, and showcase Grenache Blanc, Maccabeu, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Grenache Noir, Carignan Noir and Cinsault.
Latest vintages from the Confidentiel range of organic Languedoc appellation wines will be shown, including blends from Faugères, Minervois, Corbières and Limoux, and last but not least, the latest vintages from each of Pierre Bories' four estates will be presented.
About Pierre Bories
Languedoc winemaker and négociant Pierre Bories became president of the CIVL (Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Languedoc), the Languedoc winegrowers' trade body, in 2024.
With over 25 years' experience as a winegrower and after a career in finance, Pierre's career has been marked by the pursuit of modernity, creativity and winemaking excellence. His vision for the CIVL and the wines of Languedoc is resolutely forward-looking: under his chairmanship, the CIVL continues to develop tools and synergies between interprofessions in upstream economic data, market knowledge and analysis, and economic forecasting.
Particular emphasis is placed on the strategy for the Sud de France IGPs and and Languedoc AOPs: "Our quality labels must play a crucial role in enhancing the value of the region's wines. Collective promotion of our appellations to improve their image and reputation is a key element in winning market share,” says Bories.
About the Artisans Partisans estates
The name Artisans Partisans is used for wines from Pierre's four estates, plus others made from the vineyards of his grower-partners as part of his negociant activity. It embodies Pierre's philosophy, and the spirit of the 40+ employees who work with him across the business. All four estates (Château Ollieux Romanis, Domaine Pierre Bories, Domaine Le Champ des Murailles and Château Rives-Blanques) are certified organic, and are being converted to biodynamic viticulture.
Château Ollieux Romanis The Artisans Partisans headquarters is at Château Ollieux Romanis, a 60-hectare organic-certified vineyard in Montséret (AOP Boutenac area), in the Corbières. Pierre took over the Bories family estate in 2001 and it has gradually evolved from mono-culture to mixed farming. Trees and hedges have been planted to increase biodiversity, and a flock of ewes grazes in the vineyards in winter. Historic grape varieties are planted here, including Grenache Gris, Blanc and Noir, Roussanne, Marsanne, Maccabeu and Cinsault; some of the Carignan vines are more than 65 years old.
In 2021 the winery was completely modernised with the addition of state-of-the-art equipment; an on-site restaurant was built as well as an upmarket pop-up bistro (La Touketa) for summer dining, and a kitchen garden to supply both with organic fruit, vegetables and herbs.
Domaine Pierre Bories
In 2012, Pierre purchased 10 hectares of vines in the Corbières and founded his eponymous estate. Based in a small winery in his home village of Fabrezan, he expresses his own vision of winemaking: these are limited editions (6000 bottles/wine) made as naturally as possible in concrete or stainless steel tanks, with indigenous yeast, no sulphur added before bottling and a total of less than 30 mg/L sulphur.
Domaine Le Champ des Murailles Le Champ des Murailles was acquired by Pierre Bories in 2012. This 65-hectare estate in the AOP Boutenac area is organic-certified; its 40 plots are dotted around the garrigue scrubland and hillsides, where the vines benefit from cooler temperatures. It is also the logistics centre for the entire Artisans Partisans production. It features a state-of-the-art storage facility, tasting room, offices, bottling line... and a barn and pasture for the Artisans Partisans flock of organically-raised sheep that live on site part of the year.
Château Rives-Blanques Château Rives-Blanques was purchased in 2022. This estate has 18 contiguous hectares of organic-certified vineyards in a Natura 2000-protected zone in Cépie, near Limoux. Planted with Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Mauzac at 350 metres altitude, Château Rives-Blanques has a long-established reputation for award-winning premium white and sparkling appellation wines (AOP Blanquette de Limoux and AOP Limoux).
The estate also boasts what is believed to be the largest, most genetically diverse commercial plot of historic Mauzac vines, thanks to the planting of 4000 young vines in 2020. These vines were grafted to order from ancient clones held in Limoux's Conservatoire du Mauzac.
The new plants - all indigenous to the Aude - were grafted from 40 of the Conservatoire's 200 clones and were planted in the same plot alongside the existing bushvines, some of which are around 80 years old. It is from this 3-hectare plot – named Le Jardin - that Rives-Blanques' Conservatori (a still white AOP Limoux, 100% Mauzac) and AOP Blanquette de Limoux (100% Mauzac) are made.
