Count Patrick d’Aulan is the heir of 250 years of family tradition in the wine making industry. Seeking the best regions, his strong and enterprising spirit took him to explore Los Andes mountains. He discovered there an exceptional terroir, and gathered a passionate team, all sharing the same dream: To achieve the fullest expression of Argentinean wines and French savoir-faire.
Since our first harvest, in 1998, our goal has been to produce authentic wines and to raise brand experience. We are focused on underlining details, highlighting places, sharing results, and celebrating our passionate team’s achievements.
Our Values:
· Commitment: To take care of people, place, culture, and environment.
· Ongoing Learning: To be able to face challenges and to grow constantly.
· Bio-Adaptability: To coexist with the unique and natural expression of each terroir, in each vintage.

"Creating a wine is an art that we have been perfecting in Portugal for centuries, nowadays reinforced by systematic, documented knowledge and improved methods. Rarely is a good wine the result of chance. My experience as winemaker has taught me that a wine reflects the nature of the earth from which it is born and of those who produce it. Skill, experience and technology enable us to improve, with a high level of precision, the different factors that influence the personality of a wine. Helping Portugal´s natural potential in this area to shine, by creating and reinventing each wine, is a passion that I now have the pleasure of introducing to you and sharing with you in each wine that I make." JOÃO PORTUGAL RAMOS Our purpose is to be a reference for Portuguese wines at international level by conferring a particular identity to different wines in which consumers can rely on. We also wish to offer all our clients in different countries wines that best represent each Portuguese region where we operate: Alentejo, Bairrada, Douro and Vinhos Verdes. Alentejo @ Vila Santa Estate (in Estremoz City) LIFE FOR CONNOISSEURS The beauty of the Alentejo plain, the culture, the hunting and the rich gastronomic tradition make Estremoz an exciting region. Founded in 1258 by King Afonso III, also lived here King Dinis and Vasco da Gama, who was invested Commander in the discovery of the sea route to India. In the heart of the Upper Alentejo, the soils derived from schist and clay-limestone, and the climate of continental influence, contribute to reduced qualitative oscillations and harvests without rain, ideal conditions for an exceptional wine culture. This was the place chosen by João Portugal Ramos to make his first wines, after his long career as a consultant winemaker in the most iconic Portuguese wine regions. João Portugal Ramos planted his own vineyards in Estremoz in 1989. Since then, the area of vineyards has increased, with the aim of obtaining in each vintage a careful selection of grapes for producing exceptional wines. Designed in accordance with the traditional architecture of the Alentejo region, the Vila Santa winery, built in 1997 and enlarged in 2000 and in 2017, has put Estremoz on the map of the great Portuguese wines, welcoming visitors from all over the world. Today it is the headquarters of João Portugal Ramos Group. Douro @ DUORUM Estate FROM THE GOLDEN DOURO VALLEY Two winemakers who strongly influenced the history of wine in Portugal in the last decades, in two regions that the world recognizes as being of high quality and personality, the Douro and Alentejo, are gathered in a project envisaged and brought to life in the age-old vineyards of the Douro Valley. “DUORUM” (a Latin expression that means “from two”) started in January 2007, expressing the wishes of João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco to join their activities as professional winemakers in a project with unique characteristics and international dimension. The vineyards are located in the regions of Cima Corgo and Upper Douro, two exceptional and protected terroirs, on slopes at different altitudes (150-500m), with carefully selected varieties of indigenous grapes. Cima Corgo is located at the geographic center of the Douro, having low rainfall around 600mm, high temperatures and thermal fluctuations during the vine cycle. On the other hand, the Upper Douro is characterized by a Mediterranean climate, which explains the higher temperatures in Spring and Summer, and the yearly rainfall of around 400mm. The vineyards as well as the winery are located in the Douro Demarcated Wine Region, one of the most ancient in the world. Its landscape and cultural value have been recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage. Additionally, Duorum’ vineyards are in two locations that are part of the European Network for Nature Conservation (Natura 2000), Special Protection Areas for Birds in the International Douro and Vale do Águeda, as well as in Site of Community Importance (SCI) in International Douro. Duorum exemplary environmental and agricultural policy has been recognized by the Portuguese Nature Conservation Institute, and consequently Duorum was accepted as member of the European Initiative on Business & Biodiversity, a network of European companies that integrate nature conservation and biodiversity concerns in its business. This commitment became an important tool for reaching the rigorous environmental standards set by Duorum. BAIRRADA @ Foz de Arouce PROUD OF TRADITION Quinta de Foz de Arouce estate is located in Lousã, Beiras region. It is surrounded by the foothills of Lousã and Penela Mountains and is bathed by Arouce and Ceira rivers where the first one flows. The old documents in the house refer to the properties as belonging to the family since the 18th century, knowing that some dependencies are older, as the primitive house was consumed by fire twice. The chapel adjoining the house was founded by Brief Pontifical Pope Benedict XIII on 24-08-1724. The culture of the vineyard has been known in this place since the Visigothic occupations of the Iberian Peninsula, as evidenced by many legends claiming that King Arunce kept wine, among other precious goods, in his castle of Lousã. The wine production is deeply connected with the history of the estate, being today the only one known in the region. At Quinta de Foz de Arouce, the vineyards and wine produced had a complementary role, together with different agricultural crops and animal production, only meant for the house consumption. It was in the 70´s that João Filipe Osório de Meneses Pitta, inheriting this property, discovered the potential of the vineyards over 40 years old, producing wines of unquestionable quality. In the 80's João Portugal Ramos joined the family by marrying his daughter Teresa, becoming the consultant and winemaker of the house. He introduced a new approach in the vineyards as well as in the winemaking. Fermentation of the white wine starts in oak barrels and, just like the reds, ageing takes place also in barrels. As expected, the results appeared quite soon and in 1987 the first Quinta de Foz de Arouce wines were released to the market under the guidance of João Portugal Ramos. VINHO VERDE THE GUARANTEE OF A SIGNATURE "Portugal is a country where different and unique wines are made". It was with this idea in mind and with the usual spirit of adventure that the winemaker João Portugal Ramos headed north. He chose Monção and Melgaço sub-region, in the Vinho Verde region to embrace his new project, where the terroir enables him to produce white wines with distinctive character. Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region is the largest Portuguese region in terms of area and one of the largest in Europe. It extends throughout the northwest of Portugal, in the area traditionally known as "Entre-Douro-e-Minho". The natural conditions of this region are ideal to produce excellent white wines, as well as sparkling wines and brandies. Many differentiating factors contribute to the splendor of this unique region: the influence of the Atlantic Ocean and the exposure to sea winds, granite soils, mild climate and high rainfall. All of them bring freshness, balance and elegance to the wines. The Alvarinho variety is the main “star” of this region. There has been a growing demand for these elegant and engaging wines, both in the Portuguese market and internationally. By releasing his first Alvarinho wine in 2013, and with the guarantee of his signature, João Portugal Ramos reinforces his belief in the diversity and potential of all wine regions in Portugal.

In 1894, loveable eccentric Robert Strangways Wigley, purchased land in McLaren Vale and established Wirra Wirra, taking the name from the indigenous word for “among the gum trees”.
In 1969 visionary Richard Greg Trott took the walls of the original cellars and built one of Australia’s iconic wineries. Our wines are matured within the historic walls of the old 1894 cellars today.
Wirra Wirra has been figuratively and literally the heart of the McLaren Vale wine region since its inception. Each year just prior to harvest, the winemaking community gathers on the lawns at Wirra Wirra to ring in the new vintage on our giant Angelus bell.
We recognize the importance of preserving this special part of the world through our certified biodynamic and organic vineyards and Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certified winery, planting 5,200 native trees on our property and sourcing 30% of our electricity from our 400 solar panels.
Since 1894 the Wirra Wirra name has been synonymous with McLaren Vale. Today it’s famous for classic wines that winemaker Emma Wood beautifully crafts from the region’s heritage varieties of Shiraz, Grenache & Cabernet Sauvignon.
