Laurent Miquel are eighth generation family vine-growers and winemakers based in the Languedoc in the South of France. Although our long history informs what we do, we are constantly trying to improve upon the traditions and methods of the past by following the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen - aspiring to do a little better, every day. Pioneering, innovative and ambitious, Henri Miquel, 7th generation, was one of the first to produce quality Syrah from the Languedoc, by planting on the hillsides around Cazal Viel. The family were also the first to plant Viognier in the region in 1992 and now the total plantings of vines is approximately 200ha, across our two estates. Chateau Cazal Viel in St-Chinian has been the family estate since 1791. Laurent and his Irish wife Neasa extended the family holdings in 2009 when they bought Château Auzines in the Corbières region, in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Laurent planted Albarino in the rocky, limestone-clay soils here, the first vigneron to grow Albarino in France for over 400 years! We also grow Chardonnay and some red grapes in this cool-climate estate. Of the 250 ha at Château Auzines, only 60 are planted - the rest is left wild to nature's flora and fauna, encouraging a natural biodiversity. HVE level 3 certified for many years, we are committed to sustainable, quality wine production. Laurent's signature style is one of elegance and freshness and we are always looking for better, more natural and more sustainable ways to manage our vineyards, in order to best express our unique terroirs. We are Laurent Miquel. Visit our website to find out more.
