When you think of volcanoes, Hungary doesn't immediately spring to mind. Nor do you immediately think of Hungary when someone talks about one of the wine trends of the last few decades: volcanic wines. Places like Mount Etna, Vesuvius and Soave in Italy are undoubtedly at the top of the list of volcanic wine regions, as are Santorini, the Canary Islands, the Azores or even the islands of Madeira if you enjoy a drop of fortified wine. But Hungary should also be at the top of this list! It's no coincidence that Budapest hosted a summit for volcanic wines, #govolcanic, in 2019.
