Open Range is Pierre Bories’ creative label, offering wines inspired by the landscapes and flavors of the Languedoc while staying rooted in authenticity and drinkability.
Solelh, meaning "sun" in Occitan, is the flagship red of the Champ Libre range, a Languedoc AOP built on old-vine Carignan with genuine aging potential and a profile that works equally well for restaurant lists and serious retail. With a 5 to 10 year cellar window and a generous, layered style, it offers importers something to position a step above the everyday tier.
Carignan: 50% + Grenache Noir: 40% + Syrah: 10%
The blend draws from vines between 30 and 70 years old, rooted in sandstone and schist for the Carignan and Grenache Noir, and limestone soils for the Syrah, a combination that brings both expressive fruit and genuine mineral structure. Each variety is harvested separately at optimal ripeness, fermented at cool temperatures, then blended post-fermentation and aged in stainless steel to preserve freshness and lift.
The wine opens with black cherry, earthy depth, and warm pepper spice, broadening on the palate into ripe plum, cranberry brightness, stony minerality, and a long licorice finish. Quality and depth of the blend speak clearly for themselves.
