FANTINEL ESTATES
INTRODUCTION
Fantinel winery was born from the passion of Mario Fantinel, a well-known hotelier and restaurateur in Friuli Venezia Giulia (a little region in the north-east of Italy), who in 1969 purchased the first vineyards to raise the standard of the products offered to his customers. Love for wine was soon inherited by his sons Luciano, Gianfranco and Loris who, through a long process of selection, expanded the family property, acquiring the vineyards in the best areas of Friuli region. That small agricultural company today, with the third generation represented by Marco and Stefano, has become an internationally prestigious winery, ambassador of Friulian winemaking art in the world. Its pulsating heart is in Tauriano, near the ancient village of Spilimbergo, town of culture famous all around the world for its prestigious Mosaic School. Here an elegant winery manages over 300 hectares of vineyards divided into the renowned Friuli, Prosecco, Collio and Colli Orientali DOC zones. Unique terroirs, privileged areas with microclimates ideal for the best maturation of the fruits and the highest expression of each vine variety, especially the valuable indigenous grapes, including Friulano, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Ribolla Gialla, Verduzzo Friulano and the international varieties that in Friuli have found their perfect home, such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Passion, tradition and quest for excellence, with a terroir-driven attitude and a quality-oriented production philosophy, are the values whereby Fantinel has increasingly become an important point of reference in Italian wine sector, boasting a massive presence in foreign markets: Fantinel wines are gaining success in over 90 countries, particularly in the top-level on-trade venues and in the best specialized shops. A success confirmed by the remarkable reviews received by international press.

o Fantinel Tenuta Sant’Helena
Within the gorgeous frame of the vineyards in Vencò-Dolegna del Collio, a few steps from the boundary with Slovenia, Tenuta Sant’Helena stands out. The mild climate and the fertile soil made up of sandstone marls from Eocene origin create a magnificent environment for grape growing. This super terroir is the fundamental starting point from which particular production styles are developed, giving birth to white and red wines featuring an exclusive quality and a refined typicality.
o Fantinel Borgo Tesis
A wide ground of stones protected northwards by the majestic Dolomites. In Tauriano di Spilimbergo, at the centre of Friuli, Fantinel vineyards lie as far as the eye can see, encircled by a picturesque natural landscape in an enchanted calm. The quality research goes along with an eco-sustainable approach and cutting-edge technologies, creating wines rich in personality, mirror of the fruitful meeting between passion and technical capacity distinctively characteristic of Fantinel winery.
o Fantinel Spumanti
Celebrating the excellence of Friulian Spumante. This is the dream Fantinel family has been nurturing for decades leading the winery to be consecrated as one of the most important sparkling wine companies in the region, especially thanks to a total control on the whole production chain. For this project Friuli plain territory was chosen, where the stony surface and the pronounced temperature differences between night and day allow the ideal conditions to grow grapes for the sparkling process. Over the years the famous Prosecco and the precious “One&Only” collection have allowed to make Fantinel a worldly renowned brand for prestigious bubbles.
- LA RONCAIA
La Roncaia was founded in 1998 with the acquisition by Fantinel family of a winery, located in Friuli Colli Orientali (Friuli Northeastern hills), having an over-30-year history in wine-growing. This was the starting point for a new project consisting in creating a boutique winery able to produce top-quality wines. Modern vineyards with international cultivars and very old vineyards with indigenous grape varieties were inherited, allowing to give birth to a limited selection of products, protagonists of a first-class travel through wine’s heavens. A journey that symbolically starts from the powerful Refosco, accompanied by the elegance of Fusco and the liveliness of Cabernet Franc, continuing with refined enhancements of regional typicality, Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, elegantly joined by the rich Pinot Grigio and Eclisse, a cuvée featuring an absolute intensity. After all, La Roncaia rises to the sweet peaks of excellence, with the two extraordinary DOCGs: the royal Ramandolo and Picolit, a star shining with a rare light. Nine exciting experiments of taste, born from a well-defined philosophy: to express the uniqueness of Colli Orientali del Friuli terroir, through the selection of few vines interpreted with authenticity and style, always aiming at the best. A philosophy initially coined by the Hungarian winemaker Tibor Gal, led over the years by a passionate technical team, now guided by the young and talented Gabriele Tami. This is La Roncaia: a real “jewel cellar” that, through a terroir-driven approach and the use of peculiar vinification-aging techniques, stands out for its iconic and very high-quality products, awarded with the most desirable awards at international level.
